Last night I couldn't sleep so... time to write.
Been a while since I wrote. I have my machine in ok working order, with just no colour red coming
through on the monitor. The stay at Nobless's place was shorter than planned, because he wasn't
feeling the greatest. I discovered interesting stuff during the stay. Like how he is the Saviola
handle and is also allowed the BayernMunchen handle as well. Well I guess he's not doing any harm
but Saviola is certainly getting all of Truong's handles spewing at his rating. However I believe
that we are all equal on the server, so why should he get two handles?
Also when Mark was online, the BayernMunchen handle was getting a lot of harassment as well. Mark
and Aardvark struck a deal so that he would be able to come back as his old handle Noble but
after it is renamed to BayernMunchen (Bayern München are Mark's favourite German soccer team, and
Saviola is....? An 18 year old Argentinian genius in the making, plays for River Plate). So with
another FM on the scene (or so he initially thought) Truong for some reason was very jealous, and
used handles coppertop, 4_Eyes, Digital, Counselorla and PhotoGenic to scope to see who it was.
At first Truong thought it was FM Danilo Perus, the Slovenian player that quit the server last 
year in disgust because of PanAm and PhotoGenic's crap that they used to hassle him with. But 
eventually gluon (a kiwi) gave the identity away because he opened his mouth in public, much to 
Mark's disgust. So its back to the old hassle Mark for Truong. As for me he has gone off hassling 
me for now because he is finally realising that Mark and I are different people and that Mark is 
online more often than I am. He is quite jealous that "I am the only person to beat both Roman 
and Yasser online". The idiot was at it with Imation in a couple of games against Yasser using 
Fritz to play his moves. The games are in Imation's journal. I think Yasser worked it out after
a couple of games and after changing to anti-computer style was doing the job in the third until 
he missed a perpetual check that the computer grabbed before Yasser was about to drain its 
circuits. The funniest game in Imation's journal (his notes point to all his great wins in the 
journal) is the one against shuttlecock, where the young maestro lost on time but was demolishing
Imation's army like swatting flies. Not the sort of game that I would include as one of my
greatest victories, but hey he is insane and any victory is more ego points in the bank :)
Got the main parts of CM99/00 from Mark and found a site with the CD crack for it so I can really
check out this Roque Santa Cruz dude that Mark raves about.
I haven't been working in three weeks now, and I was considering grovelling up to my old boss for
work... before I head to the zero dollars mark. It's so depressing because my contacts over the 
creek wimped out of jacking me up a fake passport. Well I won't be giving up yet.

April 21st

52-0. You can talk about where you wanna play people, if the 20 year is going to get a test
jersey, etc etc, while our guys were saying we are going to make the forwards not only look bad,
but feel demoralised. And YEAH, it was pure massacre!! The Kangaroos showed the kiwis what a 
perfect test match performance is all about. Good on ya Brad and the boys!
Just over a week ago I quit the chess.net server. It's a bit of a story but as admin I could see 
that there was a lot of negligence going on at the highest levels, so initially I resigned in 
February because I felt unable to help people that were being abused. But nothing changed and I 
feel that the head admin Aardvark is not helping by just sitting on the fence and not taking any
concrete steps to stop the problems, which is sad because apart from this scenario he is a nice,
likeable guy and we have had many amicable conversations in the past. 
I have been on that server since it started in early 1996 (before Aardvark came along 
incidentally) and it only started changing around November 1998 when this lunatic 
Vietnamese-American FM Paul Truong (real first name Hoainhan) came along and found some loopholes
in the chess.net system. Mark Noble was the first to catch him cheating in early 1999 (when Mark 
was an admin) and Truong subsequentally was banned in July. But since then he has been back with 
numerous handles, cheating by throwing games to himself, and in general abusing certain members 
(the ones that are either highly rated that complain that they can't get a game with one of his 
handles, or people that guess who he is, or some kids who happen to make a joke that doesn't take
his fancy. But he is a professional cheat and has ways so that it is largely undetectable (e.g. 
more than one laptop and internet provider (and this has been admitted by one of his handles) so 
that he can log in at the same time on different IP numbers to throw games). Either the head
admins are lazy, stupid or have some sort of connection to the guy to allow this to happen. Last 
week BayernMunchen was telling Aardvark that Digital was Truong but Aardvark said that it wasn't
because Truong would not put up with having a rating so low, but what is really happening (and 
this I have told to Aardvark on many occasions) is that Digital is just a middle-man handle that
collects points from people an FM like Truong (and don't get me wrong, he is a strong player) can
be expected to beat and then throws these points onto one of his other handles. The best lists 
are a joke as compared to FICS. All but a few names on the best blitz list are Truong's handles. 
But the main thing I disagree with is that he uses his multiple handles to gang up on people, all
at the same time. Being a "friendly family server" as Aardvark puts it, lots of young kids are 
being harassed and then if they object, this Truong guy uses his multiple handles to gang up and 
falsify stuff so that they get banned. Its pretty heavy. Last year chicky (that's my nickname for
the nice admin Isis) and I were talking about the handle Nicole_Bennett who was quite popular in
the talk channel late last year. I even played "her" in a few games... but I was being fooled.
A month later when I was at PieterDf's place in Auckland "she" would regularly correspond with
him and in one of her emails came an unbelievable comment: Don't trust BonScott, he's bad or 
words to that effect. At this stage "she" obviously didn't know I was at his house, and I was
thinking that "she" had been brainwashed by someone into taking a side in the Alliance-Truong
war which is still going on to some degree it seems. I talked about this to Isis and she said
that Nicole_Bennett had been quite unreasonable with her, and had needed to discipline the
handle a few times. But now I know that the handle is actually Truong, and he was using it just
to get information out of people and to try and influence people. My reasons for this change of
opinion are that 1) The handle quit the server for superfluous reasons. 2) The handle has been
back recently and when I was at Noble's house he showed me his log and the BayernMunchen handle
was on his notify list. Now since Nicole_Bennett was created well after Noble quit the server, 
how would "she" know who BayernMunchen was. When Mark questioned the handle about why it was
notifying him the reply was that it didn't know how it had gotten there. Yeah right!
3) My messages to Nicole_Bennett about if she was ok and would she be back were unanswered even
when the handle was back. Now no young person with integrity would ignore those (even if they
were being brainwashed, they would want to find out more about this so-called bad person who
seems keen to chat).
This is a scenario of events on one handle that a quite nutty person is using. This posing as a
female to gather attention and information from people and to start up a ruckus (Isis is often
attacked for her "inability" by Truong's handles e.g. Imation recently and one of the handles
has even logged on as a guest when I was still an admin and told me straight out that she is
incompetent, which was a big ploy to demoralise her because at that stage she was still learning
stuff about the system, not like some of us who had been on ICSs for 4 years) is something that
I am most disgusted about, and the fact that nothing is done, and some of the lower ranking 
admins views being pushed aside. Isis was most unhappy one day when she felt like her position
as admin had no meaning when her views were not being seriously considered. At the time I told 
her that it was something that we had to accept, but also if we got more trust from Aardvark, it
would improve the situation. More trust being achieved through accomplishing something that
Aardvark did see as a positive outcome, I mean he hires admins without even meeting them face to
face, I guess there is some uncertainty in his mind when he is in charge of the day to day
running of the server. But there is a difference when you have an established admin's views being 
disregarded, especially when the cases are seriously affecting people's enjoyment at the server.
Mark Noble himself lost his temper with it all when nothing was being done about it, and none of 
the higher admins were even trying to sort out the problem. So Mark resigned as admin in June
last year. I kept my patience for as long as I could but when the handle PhotoGenic (one of the 
nutter's) was trying to get me banned by making up a load of crock and emailing it to the head 
admins, I found myself continually having to defend myself online and via email which made it not
such a nice place to go to. And last week was the last straw because I (once again) appealed to 
Aardvark for some sort of investigation but he did jack. I now have a suspicion (and that only) 
that this Truong guy has some sort of financial ties with the server (one of his handles, Crayola
has been advertising the NY Open and stating that chess.net are sponsors of it, which is true 
because GM Yasser Seirawan has bought into the parent company that owns chess.net... but why 
does HE have to advertise it?) and when I put this suggestion through to Aardvark as well as 
another plea to sort out this ratings abuse and people harassment he started to get angry and 
told me if I didn't stop coming up with all this crap about Truong he would ban me. So it was 
evidence enough. After one and a half year's worth of this, there is no way that Aardvark is dumb
enough to be blind to it; after so many requests from people around the globe including ex-admins
that resigned in disgust (or in one case were de-appointed because they "broke server policy by
stating the obvious", and also were bad-mouthing the staff, something I doubt that the person
would do without reason, he was a responsible admin and had been around for a long time on the
server) Aardvark cannot be lazy enough not to look into it. He must have some sort of deal with 
the guy to allow this to happen. I guess in America money talks a lot, but it makes me feel real 
good that after all the good work and effort put into the server that it has been partially 
foiled by one of the superiors, a superior that I once had complete faith in, a superior that 
claims to be a follower of God (hmm now that sounds like 60 minutes or Hard Copy :) ). I have 
saved many kid's butts from this guy, I stopped people being harassed, and I have spent time 
talking to people about anything that they need to rather than just slap people onto some sort of
list for punishment and wait till they complain and ask why before looking into the matter (the 
lazy-bum yank way of doing things (gluon calls it the thought police method), which actually 
works out to be a lot more effort in the long run). You're probably thinking "what a lot of 
effort for nothing" like I did when Mark was first telling me about this Truong guy who was 
eeking his way up to 2800. Well I don't really care what rating he has - it's the harassment of 
others, the multiple handles, the posing as many people to get people to divulge information to 
falsify to use against people that I dislike. I mean, it is SUPPOSED to be a friendly family 
chess server, not a server full of political games, stalking, falsifying and cheating. I can say
so much on this issue, but it never gets heard. Here are some more relevant excerpts before I say
that it is now their problem, I will be on ICC and FICS and pogo.com (nice site too slek!):

b-man (aol ip; truong like email @cs.com; truong imitates friends of people he wants to get to 
know; the other b_man wrote no notes because he was a more private person). The real b_man is 
actually a dupe for someone from canada - i think he was a shy guy maybe!? I also faintly
remember Ardent wondering who this b-man is and her telling me that he and another were arguing
about the Alliance-Truong war until I logged in one night to be the only admin online, when the
conversation ceased. Since I am no longer associated with the server, I feel that I am free to
speak, so:

This has its good and bad points but if no renamings are allowed then people make or break themselves and there is no hiding if they do abuse, a bit like your announcing of CAs recently. 2. I think that the current policy of slap someone onto a list before seeking their side of the story or checking the accusations is very wrong. It is more work to begin with but it saves a lot of time in the long run because currently you have to deal with a whole heap of people that firstly want to know what they are on for, and secondly complain because they have been given a raw deal (e.g Fang and others). When you stalled on my emails about PhotoGenics crap allegations and left it up to me to resign because no action was being taken, i got the impression that you are under some other influence not to take action.

Also I think you need to provide more details in players comment files when you take action, because sometimes us lower admins have no idea why things were done when you did them. I have talked to zuluwiz and PeterHalvarsson about these topics extensively and feel that unless they are considered then you will cease to gain any titled players on the server for a period of time. I'm sure Roman and Yasser don't want this truong

For one i did not provoke any more reaction from him, even though A1A99's comments were so far-fetched. Then the next day i went to ICC and the exact same comments and my replies were in chessbum98's finger notes. When i consulted you on this case you said that you would have a look at icc later. The next day the

I want to be able to play a game of chess against a high rated opponent, without that opponent being another truong dupe, I want all players here to be equal again, like in the days of 1997 when we all enjoyed the server. I don't want people being taken advantage of!

Yesterday I was online. I sent quite a cheeky email sent to PhotoGenic, hehe check out this URL:

Hehe this web page was shown to me by a friend... so anyway in the email I wrote: You know you
don't have to spend your life hassling, annoying, frustrating or abusing other people just 
because your life isn't what you think it should be. I can understand that you are jealous that
your peers have gone on in the chess world to become international masters or grandmasters but
take a look at yourself: you are a wealthy successful real estate owner with work commitments in
that field. One cannot be a jack of all trades and be at the highest level in all of those 
trades. Instead of feeling miserable, you should appeciate what your peers have in their fields
and celebrate the successes in your field. Its not to say that you cannot always change your 
path and go into training to become a GM like your peers. Anyway the bottom line is to enjoy 
life while letting others enjoy it too.
By the way, nice try, but next time use more lipstick :))))))))))))))))))

Hehehehehe, i'm sure that would have got him going for a while... but hopefully one day he will 
understand the meaning of a a joke and not let it eat up his ego. Anyhow his fault in the first
place for posing as a female... so in reality the joke is directed at his alter ego. If he would
only chill out and realise this... well hope is abundant.
Today the Waratahs take on the Hurricanes in Sydney. Should be a good match up. I haven't made
any progress with the travel arrangements, but one of my mates sent me a couple of dozen of Hahn
so that was a good surprise, because the kiwis only seem to import Fosters, Carlton Stripe and
XXXX on occasion. PieterDF has more luck with his Castle brew from South Africa! So enough 
supplies for the game, all I need is to be back in Wellington winding up BayernMunchen, gsxr and
the Endangered one. Earlier today I had been working on an old version of BlitzIn, the software
used to connect to the ICC. My friend Angelus was not given a fair run at the site and since her
2 latest free trials have finished, the new software code prevents any more trials... hence my
agricultural attempts to homebrew the software. Next time I am in town I will test my current
version. I am not a programmer, but with a bit of intuition and a hex-editor, one can accomplish
wonders (thinking back a few years to the number of soccer management programs edited in the 
manager's favour).
