TACTICAL IDEAS:
Atomic chess, especially in the opening and middlegame, is full of tactical
ideas. Most of these ideas are aiming for quick knockout blows either
winning the game outright or bagging a clearly decisive amount of material.
I have given some defensive combinations here but they are far rarer than
attacking ones as most of the defensive ideas consist of just one move,
preventing attacking combinations, rather than being combinations
themselves.
I have separated these combinations under the pieces that are the most
important in each case. Under each piece the actual combinations are given
in order of those that I think are the most important and need to be learned
first, starting with the most basic.
I have given typical game situations where these tactics could occur in the
opening for examples but they are certainly not restricted to the single
line given here or to openings as a whole. Also most of the tactics shown in
these examples are being executed by white however when playing always be
sure to watch out for them for black also...
